P.O.P.!

Our first graders recently took a field trip to Good Samaritan Hospital for a better understanding of what a hospital visit entails.  This Pediatric Orientation Program (POP) is put together by Good Samaritan Hospital’s Woman’s Auxiliary Group.  Each year volunteers come together to give comfort to the young students of our community should they ever need admittance to Good Samaritan Hospital. 

Our first grade teachers shared lessons with their students using books and activities about hospitals and procedures prior to attending this program.  In particular, the POP program focuses on the tonsillectomy procedure.  While participating in this program, several students took on roles of doctors, nurses, and anesthesiologists as they helped their classmate with his tonsillectomy procedure!
