Reading Log Program
To further develop our reading skills, we will begin our Reading Log Program, which ties in with the Book-It Program.
- Students will be required to read (or you may read to them) every day for at least 10 minutes –an easy target for the kids.
- Students may read storybooks and/or chapter books at their reading level. No comic books or magazines.
- Stories you read to them (i.e. at bedtime) do count!
- Stories can be read anywhere—at home, in the car, etc.
- Reading homework assignments do not count for the Reading Log.
- After the reading is completed for the day, your child may color in the symbol for the day.
- Students should keep the Reading Log until the end of the month. If theirs becomes lost, they may ask me for another.
- When the boxes on the sheet are all filled in, the sheet should be signed by the student and a parent.
At the end of the month, Reading Logs are to be turned in to me. Students who have successfully completed their Reading Logs will receive a coupon for a free one-topping Personal Pan Pizza at Pizza Hut. (One Pizza Hut is located on Cass Avenue, just north of Ogden Avenue; another on 75th Street, just west of Lemont Road.)
Don’t forget to read on Saturday and school days we have off too! We may take Sundays off—or use Sunday to make up any time lost in the week. Your child should have read for at least 60 minutes for the week.
The program will end on March 31. Coupons are good until May 1.
