Saint Joseph School of Downers Grove
Fifth Grade Where: St. Joseph School
When: 2:15- 3:30
Cost: $20.00 per Child
The St. Joseph Writing Club Committee has been very busy. The club's aim is to provide enrichment opportunities for 5th graders in the area of writing. However, the primary goal of the club is for the students to have fun and enjoy the process of writing.
The club is based on the six qualities seen in outstanding written works. They include: Ideas, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, and Conventions (Mechanics).
Each meeting, the young writers will focus on one of the quality writing traits. The children will be given a variety of writing experiences in a variety of formats throughout the year. Each child will develop a personal writing portfolio. At the end of the year, a collection of the club members' writing will be “published.”
The club fee will be used for instructional materials, training, portfolios and snacks. Fees can be sent with your child to the first meeting. Below you will find meeting dates for the first semester. Children should be picked up at the Gym exit on Highland Avenue.
