Centennial Celebration

January 31 - February 6, 2010

St. Joseph School will begin the celebration of Catholic Schools Week on Sunday, January 31, 2010 during our St. Joseph School Open House and will go through Friday, February 6th .  This year's theme is "Dividends For Life".  We a combining this theme into our 100 yr Centennial Celebration and our efforts to have the children live out the "Fruits of the Spirit" project every month.  Our service project this year has focused on the elderly, either relatives, friends or someone the child has chosen to help.  We will have special activities during this week.  Come see how our school is creating Dividends for Life through each child's experience and education!!!

Sunday, January 31st: 

Mass 10:30 am
Tours start 11:30
Open House St. Joseph Families: 1:30-3:00

• Eye Spy Contest (Dee Watson)
• Basketball Shoot-out (Bob Nader committee head)
• Sign a banner thanking your teacher  (student council)
• Hospitality Table downstairs (Camille Petrick committee head)
• Start of Senior Care Kit drive (work with Humanitarian Senior Services)

Monday, February 1st:   "TEAM Jersey Day"

**Students can wear their favorite team jersey to school with uniform pants!

• 7:30am:  Teacher Appreciation Breakfast/Staff
  (LouAnn Darrus committee head)
• 8:05: Trivia Contest with morning announcements (Stacey Lindemann committee head)
• 2:00 Contest Winner announced, 2 winners per class per day

Tuesday, February 2nd: "Uniform"

**Don't forget to bring in your assigned senior care kit items

• No Trivia today
• 8:30 Mass
• 11:30 Hot Dog Lunch for everyone including teachers/staff
              (Mary Paveleck committee head)
• 1:00 "Magic Onion" play for K-4th grade

Wednesday, February, 3rd: "Crazy Socks Day"

**Don't forget to bring in your assigned senior care kit items

• 8:05 am: Trivia Questions
• 1:00 Andy Head, magician/juggler is coming to entertain the kids!
• 2:00  Announce Trivia winners
  (Bring in on Thursday a homemade card or flower for your teacher)

Thursday, February, 4th: "Uniform"

• 8:05 am:  Trivia Questions
• 11:30: "Student Appreciation Day" with Ice Cream Social  during lunch
• 11:30:Teacher Soup and Salad Luncheon
              (Joe Jura committee head)
• 2:00 Trivia winner announced
  **don't forget to wear and bring pj's/sweats, pillow, book, slippers tomorrow...

Friday, February, 5th: "Pajama /Sweats Day"

**Last day for senior care kit items

• Big Surprise Secret "Principal for the Day!!!"
• 8:05: Trivia Questions
  "Loving Literacy Hour"  (teacher free-period) students get to find a spot in their class to cozy up with their slippers/pillow and favorite book and READ!!! Guests classroom teachers cover class during teacher free period.
• 11:30:  Baked Potato Bar for teachers and staff
  (Laura Wilson committee head)           
• 1:30:  Assembly for 100 year Centennial Spirit Chant Contest to begin
• 2:00 Trivia winners announced!
• Amy and Amber and any volunteers are invited to assemble Senior Care Kit items after school
