K-Club & Extended Care

Registration for St. Joseph School’s Extended Care Program is open.  The program offers convenience for families with working parents.  Before-school care is from 7:00-7:50 a.m.; after-school care is from 2:20-6:00 p.m.  The program, directed and run by St. Joseph teachers/aides, includes time for homework, play and snacks.  The school provides toys, games, puzzles, markers and crayons. 

If you would like to enroll your child(ren) in the Extended Care Program, please complete the registration form [download form] and return it to St. Joseph School with the $25 registration fee per child.  Extended Care will begin on Tuesday, August 24.

K-Club and Extended Care offer students an extended day of 7 am - 6 pm.

These programs offer convenience for families with working parents. Before-school care is from 7 - 7:50 am; after-school care is from 2:20 - 6 pm. The program, directed and run by St. Joseph teachers/aides, includes time for home-work, play and snacks. In the morning, children attend the program in Room 7. After school, older children meet in the Library while the younger students meet in the K-Club room. The school provides toys, games, puzzles and crayons.

K-Club Schedule

Extended Kindergarten care, called K-Club, is for students before and/or after their half-day Kindergarten class. Activities include craft projects, board games, computer games, and going to nearby parks. 

• The program is run by Mrs. June DiMare, who has two children that attended St. Joseph. She is available beginning at 7:50 am.
• At 10:30 am, Mrs. DiMare picks up the morning Kindergarteners who attend K-Club after their class. They join the afternoon Kindergarten K-club students and participate in circle time. At 11 am, they have lunch in the School Hall. Students bring lunch from home; the school provides milk. K-Clubbers also can participate in the Special Lunches on Mondays and Wednesdays, and Pizza Lunches on Fridays.
• At 11:40 am, Mrs. DiMare drops off the afternoon Kindergarten students at class and proceeds with the morning Kindergarteners to the K-Club room.
• At 2:15 pm, students take the bus home, are picked up by their parents or are walked to the K-Club room to attend the Extended Care program.

Drop-off and Pick-up

The morning program operates from 7 am - 7:50 am. Care is provided in Room 7; children enter the building at the main Franklin Street door. When picking up children, parents enter the school at the second Franklin Street door, closest to the Library. Parents ring the bell for entry, then sign out their children in the log book.

Registration is $25 per child enrolled in Extended Care and K-Club. The hourly fee for Extended Care and K-Club is $4.25 per hour for each child. A late fee of $25 for every 15 minutes after 6 pm will be added to the monthly bill. A monthly statement and invoice is mailed to each family.

Scheduling

Sign-up priority is given to children of working parents. A calendar is sent before the start of each month; parents fill out the times when their child/ren plan to attend Extended Care and K-Club. While changes in plans are understandable, it’s important to send a note to alert the school if a child will not attend as planned. Otherwise, teachers spend time trying to locate scheduled students who are not in attendance.

Miscellaneous Information

• Children are released only to their parents, guardians or others that the parents have designated in writing. Telephone requests to send a child to a particular place will not be accepted.
• For legal reasons, no child may participate in the program unless registered by a parent or legal guardian.
• Children are not permitted to bring electronic games.
• The staff is not responsible for toys or games children bring to the program.
• Children are expected to show respect for each other and the staff.
• Children may not leave the building or grounds unless accompanied by Extended Care staff.
• Parents are responsible for reminding children what days they are attending the program.
• Children must stay in uniform.
