Kindergarten Orientation

2010 / 2011 incoming class:
AM class: 8:30 am
PM class: 10:00 am

St. Joseph Kindergarten students will have the opportunity to meet or get re-acquainted with Mrs. Cherney and Mrs. Lessentien (current kindergarten teacher and aide), meet their classmates and learn various classroom rules and procedures.  While the students are having fun and meeting new friends, parents will have the opportunity to meet the other kindergarten parents and learn about St. Joseph School and the upcoming year during an information session in the school library.  This session is expected to last about 1 hour.

Kindergarteners should wear their school uniforms and come directly to the classroom.

The event is hosted by the St. Joseph School Parent Forum, the main auxiliary parent group at the school that provides social and community-building activities.  A Parent Forum representative, along with the school Principal and K-Club teacher, will provide an overview of many topics, including the following:

• Kindergarten folder procedures
• Kindergarten discipline calendar
• Kindergarten Buzz & monthly calendar
• Parent volunteer opportunities in the classroom
• Protecting God’s Children Seminar
• Star of the Week
• Arrival / Dismissal procedures
• Gym day procedures
• Bus buddies/ bus routes

The Parent Forum members will also share other ways for parents to get involved at St. Joseph through volunteering at school-wide events and participating in the following programs:

• Promotions (Box tops, Target Visa)
• Manna (Gift Card Purchasing program)
• Gift wrap Fundraiser
• Goodwill program

Of course, parents will be given the opportunity to ask questions.
