St. Joseph School Messenger Newsletter

Welcome Our New Principal

Dear Families,

After reviewing many resumes, the ‘search committee’ chose three individuals to interview. Following the third interview we decided to re-interview our first candidate. All three candidates were well qualified. The committee recommended to Fr. Jerome that we hire Mrs. Rita Stasi.

Fr. Jerome and the ‘search committee’ are pleased to announce that Mrs. Stasi is our new principal. She comes to us from the Chicago Public School System where she was principal for seven years. Previously, she was a teacher and worked in special education in the same school. Mrs. Stasi has a couple of unique ties to St. Joe’s. First, while being members of Divine Savior her two boys attended St. Joe’s. The second tie is that over the past couple of years, it was to ‘her’ school that we donated coats which were collected by our eighth grade students and parents.

Mrs. Stasi met the faculty and staff on Tuesday and will be here on the 24th as the principal. On Tuesday and Wednesday she will be meeting with the Diocesan principals at two days of regularly scheduled meetings.

Please join with us in prayer, gratitude and blessings as we welcome Mrs. Stasi.

Do You Know Jesus?

25th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Luke 16: 10-13

This Sunday's Gospel reminds us that honesty is the best policy. Christ explained to his disciples, if someone is honest about the little matters in their life then he or she can be trusted with the more important matters as well. As a result, honest people receive trust and respect from others all of the time.
Ask yourself the following questions:
" Am I honest about the little things? What are some examples of "little things"?
" Do others trust me?*

Student Council would like to thank Mrs. Crawford and Downers Grove South Coach Regan for their donation of all car wash supplies including brand new hoses! Thank you to Mrs. Crawford, Mr. Bob Davis, and Mr. Holecek for their dedication and time! Thank you to all the past graduates and their families that stopped by to support us! We received over $300 in free will donations! The donations will be spent on school activities.

THANK YOU FROM YOUTH MINISTRY
The teens of Youth Ministry who are preparing for World Youth Day 2008 in Sydney would like to thank you very much for your generous support-from car washes to hot dogs and everything in-between! The pilgrimage is now less than 300 days away-July 12 to July 25, 2008! The first WYD was started by Pope John Paul II in Rome in 1986. The national tour of the WYD Cross and Icon of Our Lady are now being carried through every diocese in every state in Australia. These symbols of Christ's love for humanity have been carried by young people to every corner of the world! The St. Joseph teens anxiously wait to see these symbols and pray with Pope Benedict XVI. The teens will remember to pray for the St. Joseph Community who helped them be a part of this celebration!

THANK YOU! FROM THE CLASS OF 2008
The students and families of the St. Joseph 8th grade class would like to thank you for the overwhelming support of our Spirit Wear fundraiser! Our hope was to raise a little money, but most importantly to offer quality Spirit Wear at an affordable price so all our families could proudly sport their Crusader pride!Your response was far beyond our expectations and we are so grateful! This will not only allow our 8th grade families to attend the Graduation Dinner Dance without charge as has been the tradition, but will also allow the school to benefit as well. With Sister Dorothy’s guidance we will work together to use these gifts to benefit St. Joseph School.Thank you and God Bless! The Class of 2008!
