Dear Parents,
This year’s St. Joseph Summer School will begin on Monday, June 9, 2008 and end on Thursday, July 3, 2008. Classes will meet each week from Monday through Thursday for 50 minutes per session.
Please read the course descriptions below with your child and discuss it with his/her present teacher. All grades listed in course descriptions are the grades completed by your child as of Wednesday, June 3, 2008. There is a maximum class size requirement for each course.
The registration deadline is May 22, 2008. Download a Registration Form.
Please fill out the enrollment form and return it with your check. The course description will indicate to whom you will write the check. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Get Ready for 1st Grade Math
Small group instruction which focuses on math skills as students transition from kindergarten to first grade. Manipulatives, games and practice sheets will be used to increase students’ understanding. If you wish to enroll your child in a class but the session time conflicts with other summer activities, please contact Miss Krueger.
Maximum class size: 4
Cost: $300
Time: 8:00-8:50 a.m.

Get Ready for 1st Grade Reading
Small group instruction which focuses on reading and phonics skills as students transition from kindergarten to first grade. Reading materials, manipulatives, games and will be used to increase students’ understanding of concepts. If you wish to enroll your child in a class but the session time conflicts with other summer activities, please contact Miss Krueger.

Time: 10:00-10:50 a.m.

Get Ready for 3rd Grade Reading
This course will concentrate on reading comprehension, vocabulary skills and phonics to prepare students for 3rd grade reading work. The child’s previous teacher will be contacted for areas of review and practice.
Maximum class size: 4

Time: 11:00-11:50 a.m.

Get Ready for 4th Grade Math
This course will focus on skills and concepts needed for 4th grade. The emphasis will be on practice and drill on the math operations and problem solving. The child’s previous teacher will be contacted for areas of concentration.
