School Supplies

During your children’s years at St. Joseph, you will be responsible for purchasing many of their school supply needs.  In order to make this easier on you, Parent Forum offers families an opportunity to purchase practically all of your children’s school supplies for the upcoming school year.  We encourage you to take advantage of this service since these supplies meet the requirements of the teachers, are offered at very competitive prices, and spare you the time of purchasing these supplies individually. 

By May of every year, the school supply order form will be updated and available on the school’s website for preorder for the next school year.  If you wish to preorder school supplies for your child(ren), please complete the order form, and return it to the school office with a check made payable to Parent Forum.  Watch the emessenger for the due date of this form.

Prepackaged items are available for pick up from Carlson Paint, Glass and Art Store, Inc., 5216 Main Street, Downers Grove, (630) 968-2977.

Certain items are required by the school but are not included in the prepackaged supplies.  Beginning in Third grade, all students must use the Good News Assignment Notebook.  Once they reach middle school (grades 6, 7, and 8), students are also required to have a bible (ISBN No.   ), and The Merriam-Webster Dictionary (ISBN No. 978-0-87779-636-7).  A 4GB flash drive is also strongly advised (available at Microcenter) for middle school students.  These items are available for preorder and are handed out on the first day of school.

If you choose not to preorder supplies, there is a list of required items available, by grade, on line.  It is important to note that brand names are optional but sizes and quantities are to be followed.  Also, the colors of the folders and notebooks are optional but should be matched, i.e. green notebook/green folder.

School Supply Store

Most supplies on the school supply list are available at the school store.  The school store is open on Tuesdays from 11:15 – 12:30.  It is run by parent volunteers.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, contact Parent Forum.
