I began teaching first grade at St. Joseph in the Fall of 2006. Before coming to St. Joseph, I worked, as an aide, with preschoolers who have been diagnosed with Autism. I attended Benedictine University where I received my Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education and Minor in Special Education. On my down time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, scrap-booking, or playing soccer!
My teaching philosophy is…..
- I am in the field of teaching for the children
- Assisting the students in achieving their best
- Adapting the needs for each individual, so that he/she is learning to his/her potential
- Integrate different learning modalities, such as kinesthetic, auditory, and visual
- Provide opportunities for hands-on activities and the use of manipulatives
I truely enjoy working at St. Joseph School! It is amazing to see how much the students grow, not only academically and physically, but also spiritually throughout the school year. I love to get hugs from the students every day! I find that the support that I've received from faculty, staff, and parents has been remarkable. It is great to see the students get excited when they have done well on a paper or assessment, along with understanding new concepts. Knowing that I am there for the students puts a great feeling into my heart!
