Terese BurkMany will already know Terese Burk as she is a familiar face around St. Joe. An active parent volunteer for many years, she has taken on many roles through our school's Parent Forum group including the Treasurer position. In her more recent years, she has co-chaired a writing enrichment program known as the 'Crusader Communication Club' (CCC). Going into its third year, this after-school group run by parent volunteers brings 5th grade students interested in writing together to share with their classmates. The CCC group challenges students in writing while inviting news writers and authors to share their real-life experiences.
With her 6th grade homeroom, Mrs. Burk will be teaching 6th grade Earth Science, 7th grade Reading and 8th grade U.S. History.
Mrs. Burk has worked in the public school system for many years. For the past 10 years, she has spent her time teaching adult education classes through the College of DuPage, helping those in need of English as a second language as well as adults in need of their GED. Her background includes a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and Legal Studies from Illinois State University. She received her Masters in Curriculum Development from DePaul University.
Terese and husband, John have two sons who attend St. Joseph School. Together this very active family enjoys anything outdoors including hiking, camping and biking. "This is such a wonderful community. I am so looking forward to teaching at St. Joseph surrounded by people who practice and live their Faith."
