Saint Joseph School of Downers Grove
Over the past four years at St. Joseph School, I’ve enjoyed working with all the different grade levels and witnessing the enthusiasm of the St. Joe students, especially correlating with the annual VIP Days and the creation of the various themed art projects. I enjoy being able to incorporate religion with my art classes.
Prior to coming to St. Joseph School, I taught at Kaneland School District 302 in Maple Park, IL. I’m a graduate of Northern Illinois University. My past includes teaching Religious Education for 14 years.
My family keeps me very busy outside of St. Joseph with four active sons, ages 13-21. I also enjoy working on various arts and crafts projects as well as cooking and gardening.
I enjoy fostering creativity and imagination as a means of expressing the student’s representation of their visual world. I like to give them experience in a variety of mediums and expose them to different artists and their styles. I try to encourage them to think ‘outside the box’…that ‘mistakes’ often bring new ideas in art, and try to dispel the theory that they ‘can’t….’
A favorite academic website of mine is the Art Institute of Chicago at http://www.artic.edu.
To contact me, I find the best way to reach me is by phone or by email. If you choose to email me, I normally check my email on Tuesday of each week. If you need to contact me quickly, please phone me.
