Madeline Honn joined St. Joseph School in the 2011-12 school year. Having attended Indiana University, she received her Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education with a concentration in Social Sciences.
While at Indiana University, Ms. Honn sought out and attained an assistant teaching position. She spent three years in an elementary school as an after-school teaching assistant working daily with 1st through 4th graders on their various homework assignments. As an education major she established a rapport with her mentoring teachers, who gave her additional time and responsibilities with students.
As a 6th grade homeroom teacher, Miss Honn teaches Religion and Vocabulary to her 6th graders, as well as Science to grade 6, Reading to grade 7 and U.S. History to grade 8.
Having played varsity softball and basketball in high school, Miss Honn is definitely into sports. She stays active in sports through coaching. Following in her father’s footsteps, she coached a 16 year-old traveling softball team alongside her dad. “It’s very satisfying to me to give my time and knowledge to the sport. To give something back and see the team become successful is so very gratifying.” When not playing sports, Ms. Honn enjoys a little TV or a good movie.
Ms. Honn and her family are lifetime members of St. Joseph Parish. In fact, her mother attended St. Joseph School. She is the oldest of four in her family.
