Mrs. Kathleen Pranckus (Miss Katie)

Miss Katie received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Graphic Communication from Illinois State University.  She is currently completing her degree at the College of DuPage in Early Childhood Education.  She comes to us from Christ Church of Oak Brook, where she was the lead teacher for their “Time for Two” program, geared to 2-1/2 to 3 year olds who might have missed a school cutoff or weren’t quite ready for preschool.

This transitional class was a structured playful program readying the students for their preschool experience. This two-hour / twice per week program was provided through the church as an outreach for moms.

Miss Katie loves working with children, and has worked with children since her teen years. “I am following in my mother’s footsteps as she, too worked closely with children." Taking many parenting classes and learning CPR, she has gained a lot of knowledge and experience, and this interest took her back to college, where she will complete her Early Childhood program in the near future.

Joining the St. Joseph community upon moving to Downers Grove 12 years ago, she became a teacher in the Religious Education program, devoting six years as a teacher.  She continued her involvement by joining the Children’s Liturgy Program on Sundays, where she is still active today. 

Miss Katie grew up on the southside of Chicago in the Beverly neighborhood, is married with two children. 

Miss Katie will be assisting our preschool teacher, Caroline Hanes.
