Mrs. StandishMrs. Standish

Mrs. Standish received her teaching degree in Elementary Education at Illinois State University with endorsements in Middle School Language Arts and Social Sciences. Coming to us from St. Maria Goretti School in Schiller Park, her background includes working with special education students in grades K-5, as well as with middle school students in grades 6-8.

Mrs. Standish has a strong background in science fair, and coordinated nearly 90 projects annually in the past two years. She helps students with research to support their experiments, as well assists with development of outlines and thesis statements.

Mrs. Standish has many interests and comes from a close-knit, musical family. For the last 12 years, Mrs. Standish, her twin sister and younger sister, have sung in their church choir while their father played acoustic guitar. She loves to read and enjoys scrapbooking. "I've always envisioned myself as a teacher. I can't imagine doing anything else." Having taught a variety of ages, her preference is the middle school grades. "We are all unique in our strengths and weaknesses. I love getting to know who each of my students is – both in and out of the classroom." She has noticed the strong sense of community at St. Joseph School. "I can see the community here in my classroom. The students are extremely kind, helpful and hardworking."

Mrs. Standish will be teaching Language Arts in grades 6-8, Vocabulary in grades 7-8, and Religion in grade 8. We are blessed to find a teacher with such qualifications, and welcome her to our school community.
