Saint Joseph School of Downers Grove
Christina Ziccarelli joined St. Joseph in our 2011-12 school year. Always intrigued with science, the complexity of life and the world that surrounds her, Mrs. Ziccarelli comes to St. Joseph School with a Bachelors in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. Deciding she wanted to work with children, she continued her education at UIC, obtaining a Masters of Education in Instructional Leadership.
Before coming to St. Joseph School, she served as an adjunct professor at National Louis University teaching a graduate course in mathematics for teachers of math in the summer months and has served as a science teacher of intermediate grades through the Minooka school system.
Mrs. Ziccarelli was also involved in a UIC summer prep class focusing on math, science and language arts. This program was geared towards the creation of science fair projects. She specifically taught intermediate math and involved her students in the creation of graphs and tables based on their science data. “I look forward to sharing the wonders of God’s creation and getting my students excited about how amazing God is.”
Mrs. Ziccarelli teaches religion and vocabulary classes in her 7th grade homeroom. She also teaches 6th grade math and 7th & 8th grade science. “I feel like I belong. It’s been such a smooth transition!”
Mrs. Ziccarelli is married to husband, John. Together they hold a special place in their hearts for Luke Giovanni, their angel in Heaven. Both are dog lovers caring for a Maltese Poodle named Blizzard and a Maltese Yorkie named Gizmo!
Her personal interests are running and being in nature. She enjoys a good hike and walks in the park. The Shed Aquarium and the Museum of Science and Industry are at the top of her list. Living in Downers Grove, they attend Divine Savior Parish in Downers Grove.
