As of 11/9/23 Empower Illinois donations will NO LONGER support St. Joseph School

We are saddened to share that the Illinois legislature adjourned its fall veto session without addressing the Invest in Kids Act Tax Credit Scholarship Program.

What the sun setting of this program means for St. Joseph's is that any gifts made for St. Joseph School after 11/9/23 will have to be returned to Empower. These funds would be allocated to qualified students in our region and/or in the state who still have unfunded students on their 2023/24 school year waitlist, rather than into an account for our 2024/25 SJS students. 

Your contributions have awarded 173 Scholarships for a total of $684.087 which has enabled 62 deserving students to attend SJS since 2018. Thank you for generously supporting St. Joseph School students via the Invest in Kids Tax Credit Scholarship program and Empower Illinois! 

Please know that St. Joseph's is committed to seeing the current 32 Kindergarten - 7th grade Empower recipients through their graduation from St. Joseph School. To do this, we humbly ask you to consider transitioning your support via Empower to a gift to our SJS Tuition Scholarship Fund. The need will be greater than ever going forward to allow any deserving St. Joseph student to attend the school despite their family's financial situation.
