YES

• Continue to Step 2

NO

• No need to continue on this page
• Go to www.virtus.org and click FIRST-TIME REGISTRANT
• Contact our PGC Administrator with any questions or once all requirements are completed
• Consider scrollling down to make a donation towards the $18 cost of your background check

step 2: have you received a Volunteer Approval Email for the 2024/2025 school year?

YES

• You SHOULD be set... If you are currently a General Volunteer but later want to help as a Coach, etc. you'll need to login at www.virtus.org to add your new "ROLE" and complete the additional requirements.

NO

• Go to Step 3

step 3: Do you have an online account at www.virtus.org?

YES

• Continue to Step 4

NO

• All requirement updates are now done online
• Go to www.virtus.org and set up your account
• You will need the date of your Protecting God’s Children training class
• If you need the date, email our PGC Aministrator
• Once your account is activated, continue to Step 4

step 4: Login to your Virtus account, aLL VOLUNTEERS NOW HAVE ANNUAL requirement UPDATES. HAVE YOU DONE YOURS?

YES

• Notify our PGC Administrator of your status and you will be sent a Volunteer Approval Email once requirements are verified
• Go to Step 5

NO

• Update all requirements
• Notify our PGC Administrator of your status
• Once all. updates have been verified, you will be sent a Volunteer Approval Email

Step 5: Please consider

• If you are updating your Background Check, the Diocese of Joliet has mandated a more comprehensive background check that results in both greater safety as well as greater cost (from $2.50/pp to $18/pp).  
• Given our hundreds of St. Joe's volunteers , would you please consider donating towards this important expense by clicking HERE

Diocese of Joliet Office of Child and Youth Protection

The new and improved Diocesan background checks have increased from $2.50 to $18 per person.  With hundreds of volunteers here at St. Joseph's we ask that you consider a donation to help supplement this significant increase.  Thank you once again for giving your time and talent to St. Joseph's!

• I'm not sure if I have a Virtus onlilne accout?  Don't create a new one!  Try "I NEED LOGIN HELP" first.  If that doesn't work and you believe you have an account contact our PGC Administrator
• What if my account is Inactive?  Contact our PGC Administrator to request activation
• I have an account in another diocese?  Call the VIRTUS Helpdesk at 888-847-8870 and request to either be moved to the Joliet Diocese, if you will no longer be volunteering in your previous diocese, or asked to be "Mirrored" if you want to be seen in both diocese (ex: Chicago & Joliet). Then complete any reqirements and notify our PGC Administrator.
